ACADEMIC CALENDAR

RU starts an academic year in April and ends in March. The academic calendar for the next year will be available in February every year. Visit here for the official university calendar.

Spring 2024 (April to July)

Move-in dates for the University Dormitories: March 28 & 29, from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Mandatory Orientations: March 28 to April 9

*Orientations includes general orientation, citizenship registration, Japanese language placement test, dormitory orientation, sports facility orientation, SIM card orientation, receiving Student ID.

The first round of Course Registration: April 1 to April 4

The second round of Course Registration: April 9th to April 16th (After this, add/drop is not possible)

Classes begin: April 10

Classes end: July 19

Final examinations for courses offered by College of Business: in July, depending on the course.

Final examinations for General Curriculum courses and courses offered by other Colleges than COB: July 20 to July 31st

Grades available: Mid-August on RU Grades Reference System

Transcript of record availabe: September 1 (No urgent processing possible)

Fall 2024 (September to February)

Early Return for the Fall semester

If classes/registration for the following (new) term resume at the home institution before the final class at Rikkyo in January, it is possible to make special arrangements to leave Rikkyo after the final class in December. Certain restrictions apply.

Applies only to students on the college-to-college based exchange agreement enrolled in courses during the Fall semester.
It is the responsibility of the student to check assessed grade penalty and/or requirements such as additional assignments before course registration and to submit an official request from the home university.
This special arrangement does not hold for courses offered by Master in International Business, other Colleges, courses offered in Japanese in the College of Business, and University General Curriculum courses. Hence, if students plan to leave in December, they should not enroll for these courses. Visit Academic for the list of the courses that Early Return applies. NO OTHER COURSE APPLIES TO THE ARRANGEMENT.
We kindly ask students to refrain from making special requests for other courses. Early Return arrangement is in place to prevent complications for your next year of study and to discourage students from arranging Early Return without a pressing academic concern.

How to request Early Return:

Request Early Return by contacting cobincoming@rikkyo.ac.jp.
Send COB/GSB Office (cobincoming@rikkyo.ac.jp) a signed official letter from your home university addressed to Dr. Ayano Nishihara, the Dean of the College of Business. This letter should certify the exact date of the semester start in January and the exact date on which you will be leaving.
